Dear Hannah,

            Your heart and soul are displayed within these drawings. The very essence of who you are – who you were created to be. You’ve taken bits and pieces from past relationships to grow, develop, and change over your entire life. From immediate family to the community of friends you found, these forty-two individuals truly remain close to your heart. From first crushes to your first relationship, from childhood friends to those you met in college; your whole life of interactions rests before you. They gently sway, but never change. You have captured part of who you are. Your memories, your past, your present, and even your future. You’ve come so far. All of these people have helped you along the way and will continue to do just that. My dear, you don’t forget people easily. You hang onto them even after they let you go. You hold tight to their memory – you store it like a photograph in a box, tucked safely away. And now, you’re finally showing the world who you are.

It’s all here in this moment. Life has not been kind to you in the past few years, yet you rise.

Like a tree - you have learned how to grow tall and strong in a drought.

Like a ray of sunshine - you have learned how to laugh when all you wanted to do was cry.

Like a camera lens - you have learned how to see the world from a new perspective.

Like an anchor – you have learned how to be grounded in your faith.

Like a hot air balloon – you have learned how to go on adventures.

Like a butterfly – you have learned how to believe in yourself even if it takes time.

You have learned how to love so deeply and so bravely. This is you. The Hannah that is strong, kind, funny, creative, and so much more.
