What makes you feel Powerful?

“Being able to give my kids the life they deserve.”

What makes you feel Strong? What makes you feel Sexy? What makes you feel Powerful?

To all of the women in our lives that we’ve always looked up to, Rosie the Riveter, Marilyn Monroe, and our own mothers and grandmothers- you are perfect. Through time, the idea of the “perfect” body has changed, yet one concept in the U.S. remains.  Women are expected to be beautiful, to be thin, and to compete against each other. This ridiculous notion is formed and we are continually judged based on these superficial and unrealistic ideals. As a group, women should stand together and support one another.

“Redefining the Bombshell” represents several different body types. Diverse women of different ages, heights, pant sizes and personalities allowed me to mold their actual bodies. The molds are painted a different shade of red to represent the distinctness between them but to symbolize the togetherness women share. Each woman was interviewed and asked three different questions. What makes you feel Strong? What makes you feel Sexy? What makes you feel Powerful? Their answers are hung behind them as a badge of honor. Hundreds of women across the country have shed their fear to express what makes them women by answering my interview questions.

Eradicating the pressure to look perfect is not only necessary, but vital to our well-being. By seeing other women share their bodies, women will feel empowered and confident in their own physical appearance. Think about what makes you feel good, stop believing the nonsense, and remember to love yourself.

What makes you feel Strong? What makes you feel Sexy? What makes you feel Powerful?
